What Dance Teams Actually Love as Recital Gifts
Share
Recital season has its own kind of energy. The costumes, the hairspray, the backstage chaos, the flowers. And then the question every studio parent or instructor faces: what do you actually give dancers that isn't another bouquet they'll carry once and forget?
I'm Orla. I'm 11, I'm a dancer, and I make 3D printed jewellery and accessories at Orla & Co. Here's what I actually think dancers love to receive — because I am one.
Something Personal to Them
Dancers are individuals. Even in a company where everyone wears the same costume and the same bun, every girl has her own personality. The best recital gifts acknowledge that. A personalised name tag with her name on it, in her colour, isn't just a gift — it says you see her specifically, not just the team.
Clip it onto her dance bag handle and it'll be there every single class after recital season ends. That's the kind of gift that sticks around.
Something That Works on a Dance Bag
Dance bags take a beating. They go from studio to car to school locker and back again. A charm that clips onto the zipper pull or strap handle is perfect because it's visible, it's tough enough to handle daily use, and it travels everywhere the dancer does.
Our dance charm collection has designs that dancers actually relate to — ballet shoes, stars, bows, and more. Mix in a personalised name tag and you've got a complete little package that means something.
Matching Sets for the Studio
This one is my favourite. When every dancer in the company gets the same charm — same design, same colour — it becomes a shared thing. A signal that you're all in it together. Studios that do this after recitals or at end-of-year celebrations tell us the girls wear them proudly all year.
You can go matching all the way (same charm, same colour for everyone) or do a shared colour with individual names. Either way, it photographs well too, which matters when recital season is also peak dance photo season.
Something Lightweight They Can Actually Wear
Dancers spend a lot of time in movement, which means heavy or delicate jewellery doesn't work. Our 3D printed charms and name tags are lightweight and durable — made from PLA plastic that's sturdy enough for everyday use but light enough that you forget it's there. Perfect for clipping onto a bag during class and wearing proudly outside of it.
How Studio Orders Work
Most recital gift orders for studios are in the 10–30 piece range. You give us names, your chosen colour scheme (matching the studio's brand colours is a nice touch), and we'll get everything made and shipped before the big night.
Turnaround is typically 5–7 business days. We ship to all 50 states, so it doesn't matter where your studio is.

Every piece is 3D printed by me, here in Southern California. When your dancers ask about their gifts, tell them another dancer made them. I think that part matters.
